We are excited to announce the members of LCCC’s Admissions as our newest Golden Egg Winners!
In 2014, Laramie County Community College mandated the development of a New Student Orientation for all new incoming students and that there needed to be an online version for students who were unable to attend orientation on campus. The first version of online orientation incorporated Blackboard Collaborate to host synchronous orientations. However, it became apparent this was not a solution for all students and a more flexible solution was needed to work with students’ life schedules. Development of an asynchronous online orientation hosted in D2L began in summer of 2015. This version is available fully online and comparable to the face-to-face version. The online orientation incorporates a variety of educational technology (EdTech) tools and online engagement practices which allow students to actively participate in the orientation process. For example, students can enter into a contest by posting a selfie of themselves to LCCC on social media, such as Twitter.
In addition, Admission has been instrumental in providing feedback and support with products developed in the Center for Learning Technologies, such as the LCCC D2L Student Tutorial. Thank you, Admissions! We look forward to working with you on future projects.
